(Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)After spending the past few months pondering over his choices, Oluwole Betiku Jr. has finally decided where he’ll play college football. The graduate transfer from USC missed all of last season due to offseason hip surgery.Betiku was the No. 15 overall recruit from the class of 2016, per 247Sports. He was the top recruit at his position, which is the reason that most programs were after his services. This offseason has been quite brutal for the Trojans, which is highlighted by Bru McCoy leaving for the Texas Longhorns. Kliff Kingsbury’s quick move from USC to the NFL didn’t exactly sit well with many people.Nonetheless, the decision from Betiku to leave USC seems like a matter of playing time.It turns out the winner of the sweepstakes for Betiku is Illinois. This past weekend he was at the campus for an official visit.Betiku announced his decision on Twitter with this photo:Words can’t describe how excited I am to be a part the Fighting Illini football team. I can’t wait to get to work. #LittyVille 🔷🔶 pic.twitter.com/RCqsUdt0dY— Oluwole Betiku Jr (@Kingwolehoudini) April 11, 2019This is quite the addition for the Fighting Illini because of how important defense is in the Big Ten. Any resistance against top offenses could help Illinois take a huge leap in 2019.Betiku could potentially serve as a great complimentary piece to standout defensive lineman Bobby Roundtree. He finished with 7.5 sacks in his sophomore season. We’ll see if Lovie Smith can get the best production out of Betiku next season.
