‘Schitt’s Creek’ Movie Hasn’t Been ‘Ruled Out’

first_img“The idea of working with these people again is still something that is kind of at the front of our brains,” he said on Tuesday. “We’ve never ruled out the possibility that, you know, we could come back in some form, be it a movie or another Christmas thing or who knows? But nothing has been ruled out, believe me. The opportunity to work with everybody again would be fantastic, because it was the best six years of my life, no question.”Eugene Levy Says 'Schitt's Creek' Movie Hasn't Been 'Ruled Out'Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy, Noah Reid, Emily Hampshire and Annie Murphy on “Schitt’s Creek.” PopTVEarlier this year, the wildly popular series swept the 2020 Emmy Awards, taking home an unprecedented nine trophies for its final season. O’Hara, 66, Murphy, 33, and the father-son duo each received individual honors after the show went nearly unrecognized for the previous five years. After the whirlwind awards night, Daniel gushed over being able to share the moment with both his real-life family and the one he built through Schitt’s Creek.“Obviously for [my dad] to be in his 70s and to have never been nominated for an Emmy as an actor, it felt like, what a lovely time for him to win. I was just so proud. I was proud of our relationship. I was proud of the work that he did,” Daniel told Vulture in September. “The whole process just felt oddly not real. … It was just this game that eventually we’d have to give them all back.”- Advertisement – Best wishes, warmest regards! German government to host flu database

first_imgOct 20, 2009 (CIDRAP News) – The German Ministry of Food, Agriculture & Consumer Protection (BMELV) today announced that it has agreed to host the influenza gene sequence database of the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID), putting its future on a more solid footing as the world enters the second wave of the H1N1 flu pandemic. Jun 25 CIDRAP News story “Pandemic reveals strengths of new flu database” GISAID was formed in 2006 when international researchers sough a more open way to share H5N1 and other influenza virus gene sequences. Members of the science community have praised the database for what they say is a more complete collection of flu virus data; for example, those who upload sequences can include clinical data, which researchers say has been useful, especially during the H1N1 pandemic. The agreement to host the database on a German government site was signed in Bonn on Oct 14, about a week after GISAID held a database workshop for its international users in Saarbruecken, Germany. The agreement between Germany and GISAID acknowledges that the database contributes to the rapid development of flu vaccines for humans and animals and stipulates that a division of Germany’s BMELV will become the permanent home of the database starting in 2011. The agreement also provides that GISAID will continue its work of developing and promoting the EpiFlu database. GISAID, a nonprofit organization, relaunched its widely used EpiFlu database in mid September after its former contractor blocked access to the database from the GISAID site. Despite the speed bump, the World Health Organization’s collaborating centers used GISAID’s new database in September to select the seasonal flu strains for the Southern Hemisphere’s 2010 flu vaccine. According to an ongoing tally on GISAID’s Web portal, the database will soon contain 30,000 influenza isolates. See also: Dr. Iqbal Survé, a physician from South Africa who is a member of GISAID’s Board of Trustees, said in a statement released to CIDRAP News, “We are truly humbled by the support and commitment of the GISAID community during these recent weeks, and indeed grateful to have found a permanent home for our EpiFlu database with the government of the Federal Republic of Germany as its host.”center_img At the GISAID workshop in Saarbruecken a new database technical committee was formed to provide a transparent and efficient way to route feedback from scientists who use the database to its developers. Though one of GISAID’s hallmarks has been its user-friendly interface, the new committee will help in that it will ensure that all user feedback is considered, GISAID officials told CIDRAP News. After the legal and contractual spat with its former database contractor, the Geneva-based Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, GISAID administrators developed a new version with the Max Planck Institute and A3 Systems in Germany. When they finally caught up with Arbery and Travis McMichael got out of the truck with the shotgun, Arbery began to “violently attack” him, the father said, according to the police report. The father said he saw his son shoot Arbery and Arbery fall to the ground.  After the video footage went viral, a Georgia district attorney said Tuesday that a grand jury would be formed to see if there were grounds to charge the father and son.Georgia’s governor, Brian Kemp, retweeted the Bureau of Investigation’s arrest announcement late Thursday and added that the “investigation remains ongoing,” while asking that residents call in with tips.He also praised the bureau’s director and agents “for their swift action,” tweeting that “justice will be served.”US President Donald Trump said Thursday evening he had not yet seen the video but that Arbery’s death was “a very sad thing.””My heart goes out to the parents and to the loved ones of the young gentleman,” Trump said, adding he would get a full report of the situation later.Around the country, political figures, celebrities and people on social media expressed fury.”The video is clear: Ahmaud Arbery was killed in cold blood. David Luiz has never had any of the qualities Arsenal need, says Tony Cascarino

first_imgAdvertisement David Luiz has had an unsteady start to life at Arsenal (Picture: Getty Images)David Luiz has absolutely none of the qualities needed by Arsenal manager Unai Emery, according to former Chelsea and Celtic striker Tony Cascarino. The Brazilian arrived at the Emirates from Chelsea this summer in a move which was widely praised as a positive signing for the Gunners. However, it has been a dodgy start to life in north London for the 32-year-old who has not kept a clean sheet in his four Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far.He was criticised for his performance in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last month and was at fault again against Watford on Sunday as he felled Roberto Pereyra in the penalty box, giving away a spot-kick for the second time in his short Arsenal career.AdvertisementAdvertisementADVERTISEMENTRepublic of Ireland international Cascarino has been scathing of the Gunners’ display at Vicarage Road as they tossed away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2, specifically calling out Luiz for his lack of positive influence.Cascarino wrote for the Times: ‘Arsenal had no control, no composure. PensionsEurope calls for ‘legislative calm’ until IORP II review

first_imgBouma warned that HBS was “not an appropriate instrument and it should not be part of the stress tests”.He also added a possible alternative approach for EIOPA: “By using alternative approaches such as cash flow analysis many of the problems that the ‘common framework’ would bring could be avoided.” As an example, Bouma cited the mark-to-market approach. But the PensionsEurope chairman also added some positive notes, welcoming the decision to use one scenario, rather than three, “which means fewer costs and less effort for IORPs”.EIOPA chairman Gabriel Bernardino confirmed the stress tests will be issued “in mid-May” this year, as planned.“This year’s stress test will include all European countries with material IORP sectors,” he said.He added that the stress tests would help to “assess the impact of pension funds on the real economy”.“Defined benefit pension funds will have to calculate the impact of adverse market scenarios on plan assets and defined contribution plans the impact on future pension income,” Bernardino said. The EIOPA chairman also called on all stakeholders to take part in EIOPA’s current survey on pan-European DC pension frameworks, which is open until 4 April.Every EU member state must finalise implementation of the IORP II directive by 31 January 2019, but Christian Röhle, head of Pensionskassen management at the pension fund of Hoechst group, warned German funds would have to find a way around a potential problem with the new rules.“A problem might arise from the fact that synergies, e.g. using the same risk manager for the company as for the pension fund, are no longer allowed,” he said. Many companies in Germany are using the same experts and board members for their pension funds but in future they will have to ensure compliance standards are met and conflicts of interests are managed. Röhle called for German authorities to introduce an exemption for this rule and “to keep the proportionality principle in mind”. PensionsEurope wants “no further changes” to the regulations regarding pension funds, as it prepares for the launch of a continent-wide stress test regime.Janwillem Bouma, chairman of PensionsEurope, reiterated a previous call for “a period of legislative calm”, this time until a planned review of the IORP II directive in 2020.Speaking at the occupational pensions conference organised by the German newspaper Handelsblatt in Berlin, Bouma criticised the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority’s (EIOPA) approach to further reforms.“PensionsEurope has rejected the holistic balance sheet [HBS] approach but EIOPA continues to work on the ‘common framework’ – as if a name change was changing the subject,” Bouma said. “IORP II already contains a thorough framework for pension risk management and pension funds already regularly carry out stress tests as part of their own processes.”last_img read more
